The Mamponteng District Police Command in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region has apprehended a gang of suspected highway robbers who robbed passengers of their money and cellular phones on Thursday at about 2am on the Mamponteng – Adwumakaase-Kese road.

The all-male robbers, numbering about six, used an Isuzu Pick-up vehicle registered GE 459- 09, which they seized, to block the road before dispossessing the passengers, mostly market women, of their money and phones.

The alleged hoodlums, believed to be Fulanis, were armed with locally-made guns and knives and subjected a number of the victims, including a pregnant woman, to severe beatings. A driver named Ofori Boateng was stabbed in the thigh.

The suspects are Abdul Rashid, 35; Abubakar Adam, 41; Moro Muhammed, 38; Dawda Abdulai, 25; Bello Moro, 23 and Nusir Sulley, 15.

They were identified during an identification parade organised by the police early Thursday morning as part of their investigations.

Superintendent Julius Kpeberson, the Mamponteng District Police Commander, who briefed DAILY GUIDE, said his men rushed the injured persons to the Mamponteng Government Hospital for medical attention while the rest were brought to the police station to assist in investigations.

According to him, at about 2pm on Thursday, May 14, 2015, his command received a distress call that armed robbers had blocked the Mamponteng – Adwumakaase-Kese road and were terrorising passengers.

Police quickly responded to the call and spotted the Pick-up vehicle and a TD Urvan bus, registered AS 1058 – 15, parked at the crime scene with a lot of fear-stricken passengers.

Acting on suspicion, the district commander said, the police raided a Fulani base in the locality to conduct a search, which led to the arrest of nine suspects and the retrieval of a crowbar and machete in their possession.

Superintendent Kpeberson said six of the suspects were identified as members of the alleged robbery gang and added that they would be processed for court.

Flowking Stone says he ever ready to for rap battle with sarkodie to prove whos is the best when it comes to rap.
He admitted on Happy FM in Accra that Sarkodie is good but they shouldn’t be compared.
“I see Sarkodie as a brother. When he was coming up, we already had One Gallon and we also had other tracks as well. I remember the comparison started when people heard him on You Dey Craze, which was when Asem and I dropped Give Me Blow. Twist in Ghana started around that era, so he’s my friend.
If there’s a comparison between Sarkodie and I, it should be me and Eminem in the whole world because as a rapper I will give you all the factors of rap or all the various components of rap in the same verse. Although Sarkodie is a very good rapper, but I’m ready for a rap battle with him.”

The songstress also mentioned she was never going to give up on the industry.
“The industry is not going to make me give up. I will give up when I’m ready to give up. I don’t really get offended by what people say. Some students of the Universal Hall of the Koforidua Polytechnic in the Eastern Region of Ghana took over an intended procession of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the polytechnic when they chose to go naked.

The students were part of the large procession of students who marched through the streets to advertise their 2015 SRC week celebration.

The naked students for fear of victimization by colleague and parents covered their faces with their shirts in a ‘ninja-like fashion’ and were guided by heavily built colleagues who prevented onlookers from taking photographs of the naked students.

The students from the all-male hall of the Polytechnic intermittently paused at junctions and performed certain rituals which attracted attention of onlookers.

However, the peaceful procession turned violent when the heavily built gentlemen attacked a pedestrian at the B Foster Junction.

The pedestrian was spotted attempting to pictures of the naked students marching through the streets.

This led to the intervention by personnel of the Ghana Police Service who restored clam and guided the students through the streets and back to their campus.

As previously reported, a Ghanaian based in the United States scammed a South Korean steel company of $375,000 by claiming he worked with a Japanese talent agency that could help the company book a concert with musician Pharrell Williams, FBI agents in Pennsylvania said.
Sigismond Segbefia, of Silver Spring, Maryland, faces multiple charges, including wire fraud, bank fraud and identity theft. He is also accused of stealing the identity of a western Pennsylvania postal worker and using it to bilk more than $445,000 from women he met on dating sites.
At least one woman lost $185,000 from December 2013 to August 2014 in the scam, the FBI said. Segbefia convinced her that he owned a medical equipment business and kept running into financial difficulties while trying to ship some of the devices to England, the FBI said. Segbefia, a native of Ghana who is in the U.S. legally, was arrested by federal customs officials at Kennedy Airport in New York. He was released on bond but ordered to be confined to his home until his appearance before a federal magistrate on May 14 in Pittsburgh.
The 28-year-old Segbefia used a company he incorporated in Maryland in October 2013 called Eastern Stars LLC to make his various claims seem legitimate, the FBI said.

A 23-year-old woman has been arrested by the Amasaman police for allegedly putting dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) in a syringe which she used as enema for her one-and-a-half-year-old sick baby, which is suspected to have caused his death.
The incident occurred at Obeyeayia near Amansaman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
Regina Lamptey, a mother of three is alleged to have mixed the DDT insecticide with water and administered it on the child through the anus when the child showed signs of malaria.
The deceased, Shadrack Nyarko, allegedly died a few hours after the poisonous substance was administered to him.
He was reportedly buried the following day by the parents without reporting the matter to the police.
It was the grandmother of the deceased who later reported the matter to the police.
The Amasaman police quickly apprehended the mother to assist in the investigation, which has begun.
ASP Sabastian Adiyiga, the Amasaman District Crime Officer, said the incident occurred on April 10, 2015, but the child was buried the following day.
Upon interrogation, Madam Lamptey said her son was feeling feverish and so a friend advised her to use DDT as enema on the boy.
The woman said after she had finished preparing the meal, she went inside the bedroom to bring Shadrack, but found him foaming at the mouth and died later as she and others rushed the baby to the Amasaman Government Hospital.
ASP Adiyiga said efforts to trace the woman who advised Madam Lamptey to use the poisonous substance on the son proved futile, but investigations were still ongoing. The police, he said, are making frantic efforts to secure a permit to exhume the body for autopsy.
Lamptey has been provisionally charged with murder and would be sent to court soon.

The police in the Western region have launched full-scale investigations into the circumstances leading to the alleged assassination of a 55- year-old lecturer of Takoradi polytechnic at the weekend.

The alleged murder by unknown assailants occurred at Anoe, a suburb of Kojokrom in the Essikadu Ketan constituency of Western Region.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the deceased, Seth Dogbey popularly called Setho, was believed to have been attacked and killed late Friday evening, but his mutilated body was found on a rail line in the area early Saturday morning.

According to sources, the lifeless body of Seth Dogbey was allegedly dragged by the supposed attackers to the rail line ostensibly for a train to run over it.

Some residents in the area, however, indicated that the calm lecturer met his untimely death Saturday morning when he ran into a speeding train at Kojokrom. The man’s body, they said, was completely torn apart.

The mutilated body has since been deposited at a private mortuary at Funko, near Takoradi.

Some other residents also believed that the man might have committed suicide and that he chose to be knocked down by the train.

When DAILY GUIDE contacted Mr Asiedu Kokuro, secretary, Takoradi branch of the polytechnic Teachers’ Association of Ghana (POTAG), he confirmed that the deceased was a lecturer at the institution.

According to the T-poly POTAG secretary, he heard last Saturday afternoon that the lecturer’s dismembered body was found on a rail line at Anoe.

He indicated that the lecturers of the polytechnic were saddened at the news of the unfortunate incident, stressing that Dogbey was very calm and had no problem with anyone.

“We hear Setho was not killed by a train as was perceived but by some people who dumped the body on the rail line for a train to dismember the body,” he alleged.

When DAILY GUIDE called Supt Reuben Asiwoko, Western regional crime officer, he also confirmed the death and said the police had launched investigations into the matter.

He revealed that even though the mutilated body of Dogbey was found on the line, what the police saw at the crime scene revealed that there was a foul play and that the deceased might have been murdered and the body dumped on the line before it was run over by a train.

Two people arrested over alleged attempts to sell a 13-year-boy into slavery were on Friday put before the Bibiani Circuit Court presided over by Mr Baptist Kwadwo Filson.

The pleas of Shaibu Mohammed and Akwasi Agyapong were not taken and they were remanded in prison custody to make their next appearance on Thursday, May 21.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emma Madona Abotsi told the court that Shaibu lives in the same house with the father of the boy, Mr Samuel Sarpong, at Aboaso near Tarkwa in the Western Region.

The accused person hatched a plan to poison the victim for alleged disrespectful behaviour towards the elderly people in the neighbourhood and informed his accomplice about what he planned to do.

Agyapong, who lives in a village called Duaso, convinced him to drop the plan and instead sell him into slavery.

Shaibu then traveled to Bibiani to look for a potential buyer and as luck would have it, the man he approached to discuss the deal happened to be a police officer.

The officer feigned interest and they settled on Ghc200,000. He was arrested when he showed up with the boy to collect the money.
